No matter how much care is taken during a removal, accidents do sometimes happen.
Changes have recently taken place within the removal industry which offer the moving public two options when taking out insurance.
Some removal companies offer Extended Liability which means that your effects are covered by their insurance and, in the event of a claim, they decide themselves if it is valid and if so, how much they will pay in settlement rather than simply offering replacement values.
Luxfords, however, offer insurance separately which means that, as with your home or holiday insurance, your goods are fully insured directly with an insurance company.
Our insurance cover exceeds BAR standards and complies with the BAR Insurance Consumer Code of Conduct and we are also a voluntary member of the Financial Ombudsman Service.
We are proud of our low claims ratio and because it is so low, we are able to pass the benefit of this on to our customers by offering the best “new for old” insurance cover available and at the lowest premium for goods up to the value of £100,000 and with no excess to pay in the event of a claim. Should your goods exceed this value, an extra premium may be payable and, if relevant, our Surveyor will be happy to discuss this with you.
We are confident you will not find better cover for your goods whilst they are in our care.
For goods coming into store, insurance will be charged as a percentage of the total collection and storage rental charges. If your goods are likely to remain with us for some time, we will, on a regular basis, ask for updated valuations from you to ensure that your goods are properly insured in the unlikely event of a claim being made upon delivery.
If you are moving abroad, we offer competitive rates for full, comprehensive insurance cover. For cover to be effected on international moves, a valuation form for the goods to be shipped must be completed and returned prior to the goods being packed.
